The streets of St. Paul came alive in a wave of colour, rhythm and jubilant energy on Monday, June 9, as the community celebrated the 24th edition of the Yasoso St. Paul’s Jouvert.
Backed by parliamentary representative Hon. E.P. Chet Greene, this much-anticipated cultural event drew scores of residents and visitors who gathered to revel in one of the most vibrant traditions on the local calendar.
From the early hours, the infectious beats of VenomX and High Tempa Bands echoed through the streets, powering a lively procession of revelers dancing and celebrating in true carnival spirit. The community’s energy was palpable with generations coming together in a show of pride, unity and cultural expression.
As the sun rose higher, the excitement carried into the after-party and food fair, where the celebration only intensified. The crowd was treated to a stellar lineup of top-tier local entertainers including Tizzy, Menace XL, Doir, King Vicious, Jukey Dan, and Buttaz, among others, each delivering high-energy performances that had the crowd moving from start to finish.
The food fair added another flavourful layer to the festivities, offering a spread of local dishes that kept patrons fuelled and satisfied.
Hon. E.P. Chet Greene, who has been a steadfast supporter of the event, expressed pride in how Yasoso has grown over the years. “This celebration is a reflection of who we are; resilient, united and full of life.” he said.
As the 24th Yasoso Jouvert wrapped up, one thing was clear: the spirit of St. Paul’s is alive and thriving, and the countdown to next year’s milestone 25th celebration has already begun.
