District 81 of Toastmasters International, which spans across the Caribbean, recently concluded its elections for the 2025–2026 leadership term. Among those elected to serve in this new era of distinguished leadership is none other than Tyreke G. Thomas-Horsford, DL5, who now proudly holds the title of Division E Director-Elect. Tyreke G. Thomas-Horsford’s Toastmasters journey began on June 18, 2022, when he first entered the Toastmasters space through the Antigua Toastmasters Club.
Like many who join the organization, he sought to improve his public speaking and leadership skills. However, what he found was far greater: a supportive community, a space to grow, and a platform to serve.
Very early in his Toastmasters experience, it became clear that he was destined to lead. He quickly demonstrated the qualities of initiative, humility, and determination. Soon after, he transitioned to the AUA Toastmasters Club, where his leadership journey took flight.
Club-Level Leadership: From Membership Chair to President
At the AUA Toastmasters Club, Thomas-Horsford served first as Vice President Membership, a role critical to the vitality and sustainability of any club. His ability to recruit, engage, and retain members demonstrated his talent for community building.
It was under his guidance that the club strengthened its membership base, re-energized its programming, and built stronger internal systems.
Recognizing his commitment and capability, the club elected him as President for the 2023–2024 term. It was under his presidency that AUA Toastmasters achieved Select Distinguished Club Status, a major accomplishment reflecting the club’s successful completion of key goals in membership growth, educational awards, and club administration. This achievement is not just a box checked—it is a symbol of excellence and teamwork under purposeful leadership.
Tyreke’s presidency was marked by inclusivity, innovative programming, and strategic growth. From themed meetings to mentorship initiatives and collaboration with other clubs, his term was characterized by creativity and consistent delivery.
Serving on All Three Levels of Leadership
One of the unique strengths Thomas-Horsford brings to his new role is his experience serving Toastmasters on all three levels: club, area, and district.
At the club level, his work with both Antigua Toastmasters and AUA Toastmasters built a solid foundation in member engagement, education, and administration.
At the area level, he took on leadership roles that required supporting multiple clubs—each with their own cultures and challenges. He assisted in coordinating joint meetings, training sessions, and cross-club initiatives, always with a focus on collaboration and uplifting others.

As Division E Director-Elect, Thomas-Horsford will oversee Toastmasters clubs across Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Montserrat, St. Kitts & Nevis, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. This division is one of the most vibrant and diverse in District 81, with a mixture of longstanding clubs and newer, fast-growing ones. The role of Division Director is pivotal: it involves mentoring Area Directors, supporting clubs in achieving their goals, organizing divisional events, and ensuring alignment with Toastmasters International standards.
Thomas-Horsford’s election was met with resounding support, reflecting the trust and admiration he has earned among his peers. His leadership promises to bring a renewed spirit of innovation, inclusion, and impact to Division E.
