The village of Liberta and the New Bethel Seventh-day Adventist Church have once again gifted the wider church with a leader of exceptional caliber. Pastor Wynfield Oliver Montgomery Ambrose, a cherished son of Liberta, has been elected as the Stewardship Director for the North Caribbean Conference, adding another chapter to his decades-long ministry marked by passionate leadership and a gift for soul-winning.
Pastor Ambrose’s journey of faith began at the New Bethel SDA Church, where his commitment was ignited. As a young lay leader and deacon, he demonstrated a natural aptitude for leadership, organizing five lay crusades that resulted in 29 baptisms; a testament to his early effectiveness in inspiring and mobilizing others for a common goal.
His path to ministry underscores his determination. He answered a call to deeper service, pursuing theological studies at the University of the Southern Caribbean and later earning a master’s degree to further hone his administrative skills. He humbly began his official work as a Literature Evangelist and Bible Worker, roles that built the foundation for his profound connection with people.
Meet Wynfield Ambrose
Wynfield Oliver Montgomery Ambrose was born in Liberta, Antigua. At the age of seventeen, through the invitation of his friend Wilmoth James, he attended an evangelistic crusade. By the second week, he committed his life to Christ and was baptized. At his home church, the New Bethel Seventh-day Adventist Church in Antigua, he faithfully served as a deacon and the Lay Activities leader. His passion for soul-winning was ignited when he witnessed 29 individuals baptized as a result of the five lay crusades he helped organize.
Determined to deepen his preparation for ministry, he pursued studies at the University of the Southern Caribbean (then Caribbean Union College) earning his bachelor’s degree in theology. Upon returning to Antigua, he worked as a Literature Evangelist and Bible Worker until he was employed by the North Caribbean Conference of Seventh-day Adventists (NCC) in 1986. Pastor Ambrose later earned a master’s degree in Christian Ministry with an emphasis in Educational Administration from Griggs University (Andrews University Global Campus).
In the summer of 1988, while serving as an intern in Tortola, Pastor Ambrose met the love of his life, Linda Gallo. When she returned from college in December of that year, they began a relationship that blossomed into a life-long partnership. Together, they are blessed with three adult children and three grandchildren, who bring them immense joy and pride.
Over the years, Pastor Ambrose and his family have partnered in ministry on the islands of Tortola, Antigua, St. Kitts, St. Thomas, St. John, and St. Croix, where he was blessed to shepherd more than thirty churches. From 2003 to 2009, he served as Publishing Director, overseeing the literature evangelism work across the 15 islands that then comprised the North Caribbean Conference. Most recently, he has been elected Stewardship Director.
Known for his genuine love for people and his passion for soul-winning, Pastor Ambrose continues to dedicate his life to leading others into a closer walk with Christ.
