Antigua and Barbuda Falcons sealed their place in the 2025 Caribbean Premier League playoffs after a tense four-wicket win over Guyana Amazon Warriors in Providence on Wednesday. Jayden Seales’ fiery spell of 4 for 15 and Amir Jangoo’s unbeaten half-century were the difference as the Falcons secured their 11th point of the campaign from 10 matches.
Opting to bowl first, the Falcons quickly took control through Seales, who ripped into the Warriors’ top order. He removed Moeen Ali in the fourth over, then dismissed Ben McDermott and Shimron Hetmyer during a hostile powerplay burst that left the home side struggling at 26 for 3.
Shai Hope briefly countered with a brisk 26 from 14 balls, but Usama Mir struck in the ninth over, bowling Hope before being involved in the run-out of Hassan Khan. Mir finished with 3 for 17, complementing Seales’ efforts as the Warriors were dismissed for 99 in 18.2 overs.
The chase was far from straightforward. The Falcons lost Andries Gous, Kevin Wickham, Karima Gore, and Shakib Al Hasan inside the powerplay, slipping to 31 for 4 and giving the Warriors hope of a turnaround. But Jangoo held firm, anchoring the innings with 51 not out from 57 deliveries, including three fours and two sixes. Despite probing spells from Moeen (2 for 10) and Imran Tahir (2 for 27), Jangoo’s composure guided the Falcons home with four balls remaining.
The result makes the Falcons the third team to secure a playoff spot, joining St Lucia Kings and Trinbago Knight Riders. The race for the final place remains open, with Guyana Amazon Warriors, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, and Barbados Royals all still mathematically in contention.
The equation is simple: if the Warriors defeat table-topping Kings on Saturday, they will seal the last playoff berth, eliminating both the Patriots and Royals.
